-Groups.
I got this photograph off of this website - http://thetypologist.tumblr.com/post/116770197553/bellpayphoneproject-typology-posted-on-february
I chose to do groups because i felt it was the topic that i had the most ideas for, also I think it will look good when there is a collection of them. |
You should make connections with appropriate selected sources when developing your personal response to one of the following suggestions.
(a) Develop your own interpretation of the theme groups
(b) You could photograph groups of objects chosen for their similar visual qualities.
(c) You might produce work based on groups of people
-Plan.
For this theme I am planning to do a range of different pictures, such as, trees, other plants, people, objects and many others.
-Typology.
These are some photographs taken by a German couple called Bernd and Hilla Becher. They travel around Germany taking pictures of things that are the same, but different. They look the same but when they are put together you can see there is actually differences.
The couple mainly take photographs of buildings and architectural structures. |
-First set.
I tried to take photographs of as many things I could find that were different but the same. I think the locker numbers and the toilet door signs worked best as they seem more similar but you can still see where the differences are. For my next set of pictures I will try to get clearer images and I will try to find some other things that there are maybe more of.
-Second set.
I think these worked well, a couple of them were showing the orange floor behind the white so next time I will try to make sure that the orange is not showing. I like the white background because it makes us focus more on the bags and makes them stand out more.using bags worked well because we see the difference in each bag, but still know they are all bags in the own form.
To make these photographs, I asked a group of people to stand in casual positions and move about if they wanted, as they were doing this I took random photos, then I asked some different people to swap or join in, again taking random pictures. Seeing how many pictures I took, i decided it would be good to have them in an animated gif. I liked the idea of a gif because it put all the pictures into an action.
- Photoshop edit.
This is a brief view of what I done to edit this photo, I cropped it in photoshop and changed the levels so it gave it more of a pink look rather then green. I did this because I wanted to make the white background more brighter, the last image is the result, we can see how the background is much brighter and makes the people stand out more.
- Research
Kate Brinkworth - Brinkworth's work began with a curiosity in films, particularly those directed by or in the style of Hitchcock. She finds using camera angles and techniques intriguing, specifically the use of 'point-of-view' shots and the varying areas of focus to bring to the attention of the viewer those areas of distinct importance to the scene or plot. Brinkworth started to collect and work from various small objects, chosen not to be overtly political or ideological, but have undertones from which the viewer may abstract their own opinion. The paintings are not intended to imitate a photograph, but to use the language of film and photography to create an image. The image is in differing degrees of focus, so that the areas that are blurred automatically become more noticeable, but it is intended that the blurred areas become as visually appealing.

These pictures are of things that were around the school, i used them because they were groups of things that were the same but all had their differences. The first pictures were all of bins, but all the bins were different colours or sizes and all had their own pattern on them. I used the posters because they were all about famous people who were dyslexic but still achieved great things, all the posters were about someone different. The wall arts were all of windows, but each window had its on shape or size and all had different patterns or objects inside them, which made them the same but different.
